Looking for a job

I'm looking for a job. I don't really know what I'm doing, so I'm not coming up with much. I have emailed the people at Sylvan to see if I can do some part time tutoring, but haven't gotten a response yet. I will probably call tomorrow or the next day if they haven't gotten back to me yet. I wish I had some idea of what I'd like to do, but I really don't. I just wish that when I looked online at job listings they weren't all "Work at home from your computer!" I'd rather have a job that they don't advertise on TV commercials and little plastic signs stapled to telephone poles. I'll keep at it though.

I'm sure lots of things have happened since I last updated, but everything kind of just runs together when you aren't doing much. Katie is back in Waco, and has been for a couple of weeks now. We read books and watch "What not to Wear" and play Rummikub (When we played the other day we each won once. Although when we played with Stephen he made fun of us for being happy that we got to share the winnings. Stupid competitive boy!) We were happy to share the winning!. We also drive to the store and stuff like that. Kind of the stuff we would do during school only without classes. It's definitely nice to have someone else in the apartment!

Kristen was here last week for a few days. It was fun to see her, but I wish she'd stayed longer. I helped her move some stuff into her and Katie's new apartment along with Katie and Michael. It's a nice little apartment and I think they will really like it.

My other friend Cleyera has apparently dropped off the face of the earth. =(

Katie and I went to Cinnamon and Chad's wedding last Saturday. We had a little trouble getting there, because Internet directions suck! I hate Internet directions! Why do you tell me to turn 3 times when really I'm just supposed to stay on the same road?!? Anyways, we got there late, but the wedding (what we did see of it) was really nice. It was my favorite of the 3 weddings I've been to. Cinnamon looked so pretty, and it was fun to see Chad again!

Holly, Katie and I went swimming the other day. Oh! Kristen was there too. Anyways, it was really fun, and especially nice to take a swim since the weather has finally started to get uncomfortably hot, as it tends to do in Texas. I got spoiled with all the nice weather we were having. We laid out in the sun for a while too. Katie and Holly have been back a few times since, and I will probably go back sometime soon. Katie and Holly got sunburned the last time they went out. Poor guys! That's what Holly gets for being addicted to the sunshine!

Katie and I bought matching flip flops the other day. In fact, I think it was the same day that we all went swimming together. In fact, I know it was that day because Katie and I ended up wearing different matching flip flops to the pool. We were like twin sisters. Speaking of being twinsy, Katie and I also bought matching picture frames. They are so cute! We actually got 2 sets of matching picture frames but one set is different colors of the same frame, and the other set is exactly the same frame. Anyways, our new flip flops are really cute. They are black with white polka dots, with a cloth thong. Very fun!

I've been emptying out my closet little by little. Maybe I will take some stuff to Amelia's Attic and see if they would like to take any of it off of my hands.

I finally finished reading Blindness by Jose Saramago, that Stephen let me borrow months and months ago. It took me forever to get into it. It was a pretty good book though. Then I read The Hundred Secret Senses, by Amy Tan, in like a week. It seemed so easy to read after reading a whole book with minimal punctuation. I really liked it. It was good like The Joy Luck Club but with more of a story. I've already passed that one off to my mom. In exchange she gave Stephen a book to read about these two people in Ireland that run a catering business. Now I'm reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I've only read a chapter so far, but it seems really interesting.

The other day, Stephen and I baked a blackberry pie. Stephen did most of the work, but I cut the strips for the lattice, since Stephen can't run a pizza cutter in a straight line. It is such a yummy pie. I documented the whole experience, maybe I better put the pictures of it up on facebook!

Lastly, I went home yesterday. I did one load of laundry (blue jeans). I bought some things at Walmart (a picture frame, shampoo, conditioner, contact juice). Stephen came over for dinner (roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans). I did a puzzle with my family (gigantic, lighthouse). I played with my dog (black and white).

Stephen just came over for lunch. I made him a turkey sandwich. I had yogurt. Now he's gone. I think Katie and I are going to the mall soon! YAY!

A few days of minimal activity

So I'm graduated now. Like a graduated cylinder. The ceremony was fun, well, as fun as they can be I guess. I thought I was going to pass out for a while when we were all lining up before we walked in, because it was really hot and I hadn't had anything to eat or drink yet that day, but I ended up being fine. It was really fun sitting with all my math friends (it was very sad that Sean was sitting with his other major instead of math, otherwise all 6 of us from ACal II would have been together). It's really weird being done though.

Stephen gave me a really nice little graduation party. He made some delicious fish tacos and bbq chicken. The devilled eggs were the most beautiful ones I'd ever made! Also, Laura gave me a karaoke machine so we sang the night away! It's just too bad we didn't find a use for Katie's present, because I'm sure we would have had even more fun then ;)

Sunday was my mom's birthday, as well as mother's day, which I hope you all remembered! Laura's friend Aaron drove up from Houston. We all took my mom out for lunch at Olive Garden after church, and then we uh.... did some other stuff? Oh! Laura and I made mom and awesome volcano cake!

Laura went home yesterday, but she will be back soon. I hope I get a call from MCS soon!

All that's left is graduation

Exams are done, the grades are in. I just have to walk across the stage. I got 2 A's (German, Soc.), a B+ (A Cal), and a B (Anthropology). I can't believe I'm done! Everyone should come see me Saturday! Or at least come to the sweet after party ;)

I had a job interview yesterday with MCS (Laura's company). Apparently it went pretty well, at least Laura said that her boss said it did. Stephen went with me and afterwards we went shopping (I got a super cute new dress!) and went to dinner at craft, in the W hotel which is super nice and fun and delicious! I was so full! My favorite thing (although it was very hard to choose) was the monkfish, but it was so flavorful that I had to take a break after every bite. Also, we had these little blood orange snowcone things that were sooooo good. I guess when it comes down to it, I'm just a Florida girl, I love my oranges. Good food, good wine, good night! Also, just so you know, Stephen is the best! I love you!

A less than exciting day...

I had to get up early today for an exam. Of course some people think it isn't early, but whatever, when you have a week where you don't have to be anywhere till 11 at the earliest, 7:30 is early. Not all of us work the early shift at the library ;) Maybe I'm lazy, whatev.
Anyways, my eyes are super bad today. I feel like crying just because it seems like maybe that would flush them out and they'd stop itching. UGGHHHHHH!!!
Anthropology exam is done. That's 2 classes down, 2 to go. Of course the ones I have left are going to be super hard. German (Saturday, if Dr. Good ever emails me back) and ACal(Tuesday). It's kind of funny because I was originally scheduled to have 3 exams on Monday, but now I have none. Fancy that. The German midterm was terrible, so I'm more worried about that one than ACal. It will be really sad to mess up my 4.0 German GPA, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting a B. Oh well. At least I'll have an A in sociology (by the skin of my teeth! I have 178.5 points and you need 179 for an A. Thank goodness for rounding!)
Let's see, what else...
I had the graduation lunch at work yesterday at Cheedars. It was a fun time having lunch with my fellow graduates (Judy, Tiffany, Kyle, and Isaac) and all the staff.
The night before I had dinner at Kyle's house. It was couples night, and there were 10 people there. We had some great fried food and played fun games.
That afternoon was the party at work. I think I heard it mentioned several times that it was the worst/lamest party ever. In the history of parties. There was food though so it was ok with me.
So yeah, it's been lots of days, with lots of food, I've been full pretty much continuously for 3 days. That's it. So long suckers! (I mean, goodbye friends)

Chicken dinner, dorky new stuff, and a puppy

What did I last write about? I sure can't remember, so it was probably nothing of consequence. Anyways, since Friday I haven't done a whole lot, so I'll gloss over the intimate details, unless of course you're interested in things like doing laundry and cutting toenails...
Friday night Stephen came over and we watched TV, "What not to Wear", and ate pizza, "pepperoni."
Saturday I finished my book for German class, The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum and then I went over to Stephen's and we watched the movie of the same name. Now I can write my paper. Then I went home and got the van. I also bought some groceries preparation for Sunday.

Sunday I went to church with my parents. After that I went to Stephen's because he was dog sitting Rick's puppy. Aww! She was so cute! All I really wanted to do all day was play with her, but unfortunately we had other things to take care of. Here's a picture of Gracie!

Next we went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to get some kitchen stuff. I'm planning on investing in some good cookie sheets sometime soon, but didn't get any yet. Stephen got the cute canisters that Laura has, and I totally have canister envy for. Whatever, my canisters are awesome, and big too so, yeah. I got some awesome silicone pot holders that I've been eyeing for a while. They look like animals! I got the pig and the fish, and they work great! Also they brought up some interesting conversation about having lobster hands.
Then it was back to Stephen's where we packed up the puppy and headed back to my apartment to cook a delicious chicken dinner. Well, it's actually a chicken and rice casserole. It's one of my "mom recipes" that I've been meaning to try out for a long time but could never find the time to make. It's super easy too! You pretty much just put a whole bunch of stuff (cream of mushroom and chicken soups, mushrooms, rice, some other stuff...) in a pan and bake it for a few hours. I was very happy with how it all turned out. It was nice to have an actual sit down meal, and Kristen's new guy friend Michael came over too. Everyone liked it! Yay for me!
Last but not least, I put new shoelaces in my sneakers today. They are blue with pretty little butterflies on them. I'm such a nerd...

You'd think that I broke up with my boyfriend or something...

I didn't by the way, and don't intend to. However, I have been carrying around a quart of icecream with me rather regularly since last night. That's because I got a delicious quart of peanut butter and chocolate icecream at Baskin Robbins last night, my favorite flavor, and in order to avoid forgetting about it in the freezer, I'm eating it up lickety split! I think peanut butter and chocolate must be my favorite food combination because I've been eating so much of it lately (peanut butter eggs (which are way better than just the cups!), the icecream, and I also made a huge batch of pb choc. cookies right before spring break). And I don't think I'm ever going to get over this love because I've been eating and loving this stuff for as long as I can remember. Ok, enough about that, plus my icecream is half empty, so I'm going to go put it away.

I'm glad to hear, well, read, that Cleyera is having less trouble over in Germany, or at least some of the issues are being resolved. I miss you Cleyera! I hope you're having fun and things continue to look up.

As for my school life, I had a quiz in math today, which didn't go all that well, but whatever, I'll manage. I'm doing better on the tests this semester than I did last semester, so I'm not to worried about my overall grade. I think I'm slowly, very, very slowly mind you, getting better at analysis. I think it's also just getting used to Dr. Morgan (I think he's so great most of the time!), and the class becoming and increasingly more laid back environment. We are so much less rushed to get through things than my previous two semesters, and I actually like the class most of the time. I just hate the homework!

I'm over halfway done with my German book. I really should say, the book I'm reading for German, because although it was originally in German, it isn't a "German book" because that is a term I usually reserve for textbooks. Ok, so TMI... moving on. Hopefully I will finish the book tonight! Then I can watch the movie tomorrow. What I really need to do tomorrow is clean up though, because I haven't really put anything back in order since I got back from spring break. Also, I need to remember to pick up a book from ILL today.

Today in Sociology we talked about what attracts people to each other, specifically, what men and women are looking for in a potential husband/wife. I think that class is so interesting sometimes. And fun! I highly recommend it. Take Dr. Dougherty! While I'm at it, I also love Dr. Good, and Dr. Arbuckle is really funny! Yay for my professors this semester!!

Ok, enough of my rambling on. I need to start thinking about getting ready to go to work. I'm so pumped about pulling off that tattle tape!

Score binders are very hard to cut

So I finally feel like I'm somewhat back to normal after my vacation. I've been super tired for days... I slept until about a half hour ago today though so maybe that's why I'm feeling more alert. Anyways...

Since I've gotten back it seems like nothing really has gone on. I'd say the major event of the last few days was going to see Christopher O'Riley on Tuesday night. I went with Katie and Stephen and it was a pretty good concert (especially since we got our tickets for free from Sharon. Thanks Sharon!) He played some Shostakovich preludes and fugues and a bunch of Radiohead transcriptions (which is why Stephen was at a piano concert). I liked the Shostakovich stuff better, I thought that there was just too much noise in some of the Radiohead stuff. It was still good though. All in all it was a fun concert! Also, Katie and I saw our backpacking teacher there! Weird! Oh and Christopher O'Riley has a terrible haircut. And we are making him into the new bell picture at the library.

I had a math assignment due yesterday that I stayed up pretty late working on, and still didn't get completely finished. This is the story of my life, you know... I got enough done to turn it in though, so I'll catch it on the rewrite. I like trying to get it on my own the first time through anyways, so yeah. In other school news I really need to get working on my German paper! I only have a couple more weeks before it's due!

Last night Stephen cooked me dinner again, and as usual it was really good! We had stuffed pork chops, asparagus (both grilled) and macaroni and cheese (baked). Aside from the asparagus our recipes were courtesy of Alton Brown. Also, the pork chops were brined which made them super delicious!

Finally, although this falls out of chronological order, we started pulling the tattle tape out of all the videos at work. Not fun, especially when you go to work on it and a bunch of videos that are already done aren't crossed off the list, and the entire drawer you're working on is out of order. Whatever, I fixed it. Then I cut my finger open working on the Chris bell.

Breakfast/Lunch

As you may know, I can only cook a few things, and of those things there is an even smaller group of things I can say that I cook well. Nothing fancy, just regular old food. Anyways, one thing that I am relatively proud of are my fried egg sandwiches. Mmmm. I only bring it up because I just made myself an awesome one for lunch (breakfast? It is only 10 and it is the first food I've had today) One egg, a slice of ham that I fried, melted provalone, and today, just for fun, I threw in some minced onions. Yum Yum!!! At least I know I won't starve. I'd also say I'm not bad at grilled cheese.

What else... Yesterday I went to Crickets with Katie, Kristen and Stephen. I had some tasty eats! (That sounds like something Jamie would say...) I was so hungry when we got there, but that probably has to do with the fact that all I'd eaten during the rest of the day was candy (Don't worry Cleyera, my eating habits are still as bad as they always were. Or maybe I should say do worry?)

After that Stephen and I watched The Prestige at his house. It was pretty good, lots of tricks and surprises, but that's to be expected in a movie about magic. Also, you really can't go wrong with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. Mmmm...

Speaking of movies, I hope my movie comes from Netflix soon (The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum, and for clarification I don't have Netflix, I'm getting it on Stephen's). I don't know if I really want it yet though, since I wanted to read the book first (Dr. Good also recommended reading it first). I also ordered two books through Interlibrary Loan for my paper. It was exciting! I'd never done it before!

I wonder if I can get Stephen to take me by the contacts place after work so I can pick up my next six months worth of lenses...
